ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Monday said that the United States (US) has exploited Pakistan in the war against terror.
Speaking to a Russian channel, Khan said that Pakistan sacrificed 70,000 lives as the front ally of US in its war against terrorism. He added that the country not only lost precious lives but also faced economic set back of more than $100 million leading to an economic crisis.
Khan said that ‘now that Pakistan is facing economic crisis’, the US has imposed sanctions on grounds that Pakistan has not done enough to eradicate terrorism. The PTI chief added that such attitude is immoral on US’s behalf.
The PTI Chief maintained that the aid provided by the US was incomparable to the incurred losses as it not only tarnished Pakistan’s economy but also the country’s image.
He further said that the US speaks the same language as India, while upon a question regarding Afghanistan, Khan added that the US strategy to show its military might in Afghanistan failed and the only solution left is to negotiate with the Taliban.
Khan laid emphasis on how US is putting the blame of its failure on Pakistan without realising that Pakistan is a major stakeholder in the war against terrorism in Afghanistan. He assured that Pakistan only wants peace and stability in Afghanistan so that regional stability can be achieved.
