Gujranwala: Police on Monday arrested at least 68 kite manufacturers and sellers and produced them before courts where judicial magistrates sent all the accused on judicial remand.
During the crackdown, police recovered 800 kites from the accused. City Police Officer Ashfaq Khan said that crackdown on kite flying and manufacturers would be continued in the next days also.
Kashmir Solidarity Day was also observed on Monday in Gujranwala to draw attention of the world community towards the plight of Kashmiris and to support their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
Rallies, seminars were organised by different organisations and political parties, including PML-N, PTI, Jamat-e-Islami, Khaksar Tehrek, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Jamaat Razai Mustafa, Tanzeem Islami and Saiban Tanzeem.
Speakers in their speeches said that hearts of the people of Pakistan and Kashmir beat in unison. They hoped that Pakistan would continue its moral, political and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They called upon India to immediately stop human rights violations in Held Kashmir and give the right of freedom to the people of Kashmiris according to the UN charter.
