Karachi: Lack of well-equipped cardiac hospitals in the country makes it difficult to treat the increasing number of patients every year, said provincial health secretary Fazlullah Picho on Sunday.
He was speaking at a press conference at a local hotel organised by the NICVD’s Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Department.
Picho promised that plans were in the pipeline for setting up cardiac hospitals in different parts of the province. He said ground breaking ceremonies of some of these hospitals would take place in the coming months.
He claimed that state of the art machinery and operation theaters for cardiac surgeries will be installed at NICVD Karachi, while also adding, “first major hospital for cardiovascular diseases was established in Karachi, the hospitals set up in other cities of the Sindh were on its pattern.”
Other health professionals who attended the conference were Doctor Suhail Bangash, Najma Patel and Kaleemullah.
